MX: Mixed fortunes for the Nestaan JM Racing Team in the Grand Prix of Europe

Jake Nicholls and Glenn Coldenhoff of the Nestaan JM Racing Team had mixed fortunes at the penultimate round of the World MX2 Series in Faenza, Italy.

Jake Nicholls started both races outside of the top five. In the first moto he crossed the finish line in seventh position and after a crash in the second moto he came home in thirteenth position. Glenn Coldenhoff had an elbow injury which he picked up in the first moto of the Grand Prix in Lierop. Despite this he gave everything he had and finished the races in 14th and 15th position. With these results he moved up to tenth position in the World Championship Standings.

Because of the heavy rain at the days prior the race there were a lot of ruts during the practice sessions on Saturday. Jake started the weekend positively and qualified himself in sixth position. In the first moto Jake started the race in seventh position. In the beginning of the race he dropped back to eight position but managed to follow the riders in front of him. In the closing stages of the race he started to put the pressure on the seventh place rider and managed to make a pass stick. In the last couple of laps he kept the pace as high as he could and finished the race in seventh position.

In the second moto he came out of the first lap in eight position. It was difficult to overtake in Faenza and due to this he was riding in eight position for a long time. Unfortunately he made a crash just after the midway point and dropped back to fourteenth position. Because the wind got knocked out of him it cost him some time to recover. In the closing stages of the race he managed to pass Glenn Coldenhoff and finished the race in thirteenth position.

Overall he finished in ninth position and with still one round to go he sits in fourth position in the World Championship Standings.

Glenn Coldenhoff qualified himself in fourteenth position for the race on Sunday. In the first moto he didn’t took a good start and came out of the first lap in sixteenth position. In the beginning of the race he worked himself up to fourteenth position but soon after he got passed by Glenn Coldenhoff and dropped back to fifteenth position. Glenn kept the pace as high as he could and found the rear wheel of Elliott Banks Browne. In the final lap he made a pass stick and finished the race in fourteenth position.

In the second moto he started the race in seventeenth position. It was difficult to overtake the riders in front of him but in the middle of the race he had worked himself up to fourteenth position and in the closing stages of the race he moved up to thirteenth position. Jake Nicholls and Jose Butron were riding behind him and were starting to put the pressure on Glenn. Unfortunately both riders managed to pass Glenn and so the rider from Heesch in the Netherlands finished the race in fifteenth position.

Overall he finished in fourteenth position and with these results he moved up to tenth position in the World Championship Standings.

Magne Klingsheim managed to win the second moto in the UEM 125 race. In the first moto he was riding in third position when he crashed. Due to this he dropped back to eighteenth position. Magne tried to come back as far as he could and finally finished the race in fourteenth position. With these results he finished fourth overall and finished in second position in the final European Championship Standings.
