Super B wishes Norton Motorcycles the best of luck at this year's Isle of Man TT races. Norton Motorcycles are using the Super B 7800 in their hand-built 180bhp Norton SG1 TT race bike in this year's senior TT for maximum performance with minimum weight.
After narrowly missing out on Monday night's practice, the Norton SG1 was fully prepared to make its mountain debut for last night's practice session. Works rider Ian Mackman AKA 'Mackers' took the SG1 to the course for the first time lapping a more than respectable 112.36mph in a 35 minute session, reaching speeds just shy of 180mph.
This wasn't just a successful debut lap, this was the first lap completed by a Norton in 20 years!!! Mackers said, "The bike is surprisingly good. I reckon the exhaust is loud enough to be heard on British mainland!"
The Super B 7800 generates 450 cranking Amps whilst weighing only 1.3 kilos making it ideal for many applications, motor racing being only one of them.
