Husaberg Super-B rider Hans Vogels again struggles in Greece

Posted on 26th Jun 2011 @ 12:56 PM

Vogels travelled to Meteora, Greece for the 5th round of the WEC to get adjusted to the warm weather and to check the specials. The Extreme test on Friday went really well, and Vogels was looking forward to the race. Satuday the  Super B rider had a good start. Times needed to be improved, but Vogels was confident this was possible. However, in the 4th special bad luck struck and Vogels had to give up with a broken engine. This happened halfway the special, and Vogels had to push the bike back to the finish through the mountains over stones and rocks. In the parc fermé the problem could be solved and the bike was ready for the second day. Sunday Vogels was struggling to find his pace and rythm, despite pushing hard 8th place was the best result he could achieve at the end of the day.

During the first day only 65 out of 86 riders made it to the finish, on day two 57 out of 70 started riders. This shows it was a hard race. Hans remains in 10th position in the WEC ranking.
Hans Vogels : I started really motivated, but in the 4th test bad luck struck again. The second day I tried everything bu I couldn't find the right pace. The specials were so hard after the first day I really had to give everything. I'm still pleased with my 8th place. It was a weekend to quickly forget, and I'm looking forward to the next race.''

Next race is the third round in the German Cross Country Championship, in Mernes.
