Barry Veneman (13th in the 1st race, 17th in the 2nd race) didn't manage to score the results in Assen he was hoping for in the Dutch round of the WSBK: ,,The first race was a drama. I was struggling with the bike, the characteristics of the electronics are completely different from my own stock racer which I use in the IDM. I was fighting with the bike and almost crashed for about ten times. For the second race we changed the settings, which gave a lot better feeling. My start was better, but towards the end I was struggling with pumped-up arms.''
The first race was won by Castrol Honda Jonathan Rea followed by Max Biaggi (Aprilia) and Carlos Checa (Ducati). The second race it was just the other way around: Checa first befor Biaggi and Rea in third place. After three rounds in the championship Carlos Checa is leading with 132 points, followed by Biaggi with 89 points and Melandri with 85 points. Veneman scored 3 points and is 20st overall, we might see him again in the next race depending on Toseland and the recovery of his wrist injury.
