he second edition of ‘Le Dakar’ was a real Dakar, which had everything you can expect from a Dakar. A tough rally, with technical stages, rocks, high sanddunes, fesh-fesh and many withdrawals. Amongst the bikes were the Team Honda Europe and the Yamaha Holland Team using the Super B batteries. The Honda Team performed very well with 5 out of 6 riders at the finish.

The new T1 lightweight category in the cars was won by the McRae Prodakar buggy. A new concept, which was realised in a very short time. There was hardly time for testing, but Tim Coronel and Chris Leyds made it to the finish. It was a hard battle every day, with a lot of technical problems. But the Super B batteries on board the buggy’s were of no concern for the mechanics!
