Ramirez Finishes 10th At National Hare & Hound – Round 5 Powered By Super B

Johnson Valley, CA – Factory FMF/KTM rider Ivan Ramirez had an up and down day at the fifth round of the AMA National Hare & Hound Series where he finished 10th overall after technical issues and a crash suffered at the halfway point.

A little rain the night before kept the course from getting too dusty on race day. With wind and temperatures in the upper 40’s the riders of the fifth round were ready to tackle the course which consisted of two 40 miles loops.

Ramirez got the holeshot down the bomb run and had a 6 second lead on the rest of the pack as they entered the first trail section. He continued to lead until a few miles before the end of the first 40 mile loop when he got hung up in a technical rock section. He dropped to 3rd position after his issue but was able to stay on the wheels of the top two riders. After the gas stop, the three riders returned for the start of the second, more technical loop, and immediately got lost on the course. The top three eventually found their way back to the course but lost some time in doing so.

Shortly after finding their way back to the course, Ramirez had a bike issue and lost approximately one minute while fixing it. He maintained his 3rd place position but lost more time to the top two riders. At the halfway point of the second loop, Ramirez suffered a crash in a hard rock section which knocked the wind out of him. He collected himself and returned to the course but was unable to ride 100% with both his body hurting and his bike suffering damage in the crash. He rode as hard as he was able to given the circumstances and was able to finish 10th overall for the day.

“It has been a real roller coaster season for Ivan,” commented Factory FMF/KTM Team Manager Antti Kallonen. “Ivan has had some great races and some bad races. We are looking forward to the next round to hopefully get him back on track and battling for a win.”
